The Chevrolet Malibu was named 2008 North American Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show. That award is given and judged by automotive journalists.
The new Chevrolet Malibu and Silverado led the midsize car and large pickup segments in the 2008 J. D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS). The Pontiac Grand Prix also received the highest ranking in the large car segment in the study.
In 2008, R.L. Polk & Co., awarded General Motors the Overall Manufacturer award for owner loyalty for a record eighth consecutive year. GM also secured owner loyalty awards for the Chevrolet Suburban, Silverado and Impala and Pontiac Solstice for the 2007 model year.
GM is the only U.S.-based company offering a B-class (subcompact) car, the Chevy Aveo. The Pontiac G3 joins the Aveo in 2009.
